Defined as taking a systematic approach to problem solving, usually of a technical nature. That really comes down to- "What do I do now that my Mac isn't acting as it should? " How do I get to the core of this?

Believe me, I know how frustrating that can be. I certainly didn't know what I can use to help you 12 years ago though I wish I had. And, lucky for us all, Macs have gotten better over time.
